Project: Na-bi Table

Location: Seoul, South Korea

Scope: Furniture Design

This furniture is inspired by najeonchilgi, a traditional Korean craft that uses lacquer and mother of pearl to create intricate designs. It celebrates the timeless craftsmanship of Korean artisans and the graceful natural patina of wood that develops over time as the piece is loved and used by its owner. The butterfly (na-bi) motif, which is a traditional symbol of eternity, has been reinterpreted into modern geometric forms and used as a design motif for the sideboard support. The use of exotic marble also conveys the essence of timeless beauty achieved through layers of its regional history.
